 Professional Ski and Snowboard Organizations
 Name  Description
 AASI  American Association of Snowboard Instructors.  This offshoot of PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America)
 teamed up with them in the last decade.  They are the premiere professional ski and snowboard instruction
 association in America.  PSIA was founded in 1961.  All Snowboard Instruction certifications is the US are tested by
 and achieved through the PSIA-AASI organization.
 NSAA  National Ski Areas Association.  The trade association for ski area owners and operators representing over 300
 alpine resorts which accounts for more than 90% of the skier/snowboarder visits nationwide. The association's
 primary objective is to meet the needs of ski area owners and operators nationwide and to foster, stimulate and
 promote growth in the industry.
 NSP  National Ski Patrol.  The world’s largest winter rescue organization.  Since 1938 NSP has worked to care for the
 injured or those having difficulty in the mountain environment, but their primary work is in preventing the problems that
 can confront those involved in outdoor winter activities through rider and skier education.  They work closely with
 PSIA/AASI to promote safety.
 NSSRA  National Ski and Snowboard Retailers Association. The retail voice for the ski and snowboard industries and provides
 information and services needed to operate more successfully.  They work closely with manufacturers and
 instructors on programs such as the professional equipment discount program that is available to qualified members
 of PSIA-AASI.
 PSIA  Professional Ski Instructors of America.  THE on-line resource to get fired up about skiing and snowboarding: membership information and services, tips from the pros and much more.
 PSIA-NW  Professional Ski Instructors of America - Northwest chapter.  Provides multi-faceted support to the professional snowsport instructors that make up their membership.  Elements of this support include developing and providing high level education, promoting snowsport instruction as a profession, and preparing and administering certification standards.
 SIA  Snowsports Industries America (SIA).  SIA is a partner of the snow sports industry.  SIA focuses on fueling ski and
 snowboard business with efficiency, growth and success.
 Special Olympics  An international organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit,
 productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition.

 USASA  United States of America Snowboard Association.  The first governing body for competitive grassroots
 snowboarding.  The efforts of the USASA and its regions have enabled men and women, and boys and girls of all
 ages to participate in its organized events.
 US Olympic Team & Committee   The US Olympic Team represents the United States in the Olympic Games sports competition and the US Olympic
 Committee is the non-profit organization that serves as the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for the United States.
 USSA  US Ski and Snowboard Association is the national governing body for Olympic skiing and snowboarding.  Founded in
 1904, this century-old organization provides leadership and direction for tens of thousands of young skiers and
 snowboarders who share an Olympic dream.  PNSA is the Northwest’s local division of USSA. 
 USSCA  United States Ski and Snowboard Coaches Association.  This is the organization for all coaches within the country.
 This body provides coaches training and certification, and develops the standards for coaches.  Like an instructor,
 the coach is trained to give support to a large segment of the ski and snowboard competition community.  They train
 children who are just getting started in competition, and the elite athletes who may be members of the U.S. Olympic
 Team.
